My parents 50th party was from 1-3:30 with the program starting at 2. Our program went as followed - my sister and I introduce ourselves along with the spouses and kids, then I had the guest introduce themselves and tell how they knew my parents. That led into a surprise intro of a captain of the Marine Corps who presented my dad and mom with a congratulatory note from the Commadant of the Marine Corps. My daughter had researched major happenings during the 1940's. The guest looked like they enjoyed that because they would respond to some of the things she said. My sister read the newspaper article that told about their wedding. My parents then talked about their 50 years together, which took up alot of time. When the program was over with, we took pictures as they cut the cake. They I took over serving it to our guest. I think if I were going to plan a toast it might be nice to do it after you share about your lives together. It would make a nice closure to the program and then cut the cake. I sure hope this helps. Have fun!!!
