I suggest using a formal invitation with the enveloped addressed to the invited guests. Include second envelope inside with the guest name scripted once again......The response card can be written in such a way that the guest has to write down how many will attend, or fill in his/her name. Therefore, if someone is planning to bring an univited child you will know in advance and be able to call and explain that it is a formal event and no children will be attending.
