I just wanted to let everyone know of the ideas I used at my parents recent 40th. It was a big hit and people are still coming up and telling me they had a great time. I used an idea I heard of giving each guest table a different color and calling up tables for the buffett line by selecting a few colors from a hat at a time. You wouldn't believe how excited people got waiting to hear their tables color called!! I was in the kitchen and kept hearing roars from the crowd as people were betting who's table was going to be next. Also to make the waiting time go faster I did some research on the internet about what was going on in the world on the exact wedding day. Then we composed it into trivia questions and let the crowd take their best guess. Again, all I heard was laughter and excitement from the main hall. The final thing was to put together a few poster boards showing the different stages of my parents life. "The early days", "The Wedding Day", and "As time goes by". The buffet line went passed the photos so people could look as they waited. Thought these ideas might help someone else.
