I am no expert on figuring out the amount of food you will need but.... It is so much better to estimate and have too much food than to have to little. I have been to parties where they have run out and guests start to leave early (to go out to eat). My husband and I did the food for our wedding. We went to Costco and Sam's Club and bought party trays. They figure the amount of food for you, ie> one tray = 25 people. If you're doing your own trays, take a look at theirs for quantities or your local deli or grocery store may have trays. We also purchased frozen hordevores from Costco they also have mini croisaunts, etc. Consider that one tray for 25 people means one serving each, so have a variety of foods. Like five or so different things, enough to fill someone's plate. Consider also who your guests are. If they are a bunch of jocks you'd need more than for a bunch of little old ladies.

We did have left over food as I planned for 50 and only had about 25 people. But my father-in-law took most of the leftovers to a local homeless shelter the next day.
