Try this:

The children of Dick and Jane Doe
request the honor of your presence
at the celebration of the
25th anniversary of the marriage of their parents
Saturday, the twelfth of August
two thousand
at The Country Club
New York, New York

If you do this on computer, find a nice font, center each line, put it on nice 8 1/2 x 11" paper folded in fourths. Have their names and 25th Anniversary on the outside of this folded envelope. This makes a nice invitation size. You can easily find invitation envelopes at an office supply store.

As for the party itself, you haven't much time. I would suggest perhaps an outdoor party at the home of friends or family or try a VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), Knigts of Columbus, Moose Lodge, etc. They often have spaces that can be rented at a reasonable fee.

For food, you might go with meat and cheese trays, chips, crackers and dip, veggie trays, etc. Get a nice cake from your local baker. Line up music from the mid 70's. Get some information about events of 1975 (go to dMarie.com where they have a website that you can get a printout of this information, or go to a local greeting card store where they may be able sell you a prinout of similar information). Ask some of their closest friends and family members to prepare something to say. Have music from the 70's playing on the stereo. Definitely put up pictures of them from younger years, children, etc. It may be a little late for a memory book, but look at some of the postings on memory books. It is inexpensive and meaningful.

Your local paper/party outlet will have decorations. You may want to go with silver balloons, banners, etc. Ask for help, because they will have many items for the budget minded party giver.

Above all, I wouldn't try to do it alone. Ask for help. You haven't a lot of time left. Good luck. Have fun.
