To Mary Lynn: Your ideas for your parents' anniversary party are wonderful and very imaginative. I too am planning a 50th anniversary reception for my parents in December. I started about a year ago with some ideas and purchasing some items in advance. I am the only living child my Mom & Dad have, so basically I have a big task ahead of me, as well as expense. Our guest list is probably around 150-175. I realize that not all of these will show though. My parents never had a church wedding either. So I plan to have a nice wedding cake and we'll do the cake cutting and have a toast etc. I plan to use balloon arrangements of gold and ivory, even though I'm not sure WHERE yet. The centerpieces for the dining tables will be large martini shaped glasses with gold beads in the bottom and gold rose floating candles. I plan to either use gold doilies under the glasses, or maybe small artificial Christmas wreaths decorated with gold items, etc. I REALLY could use some help with some appropriate toasts (not too mushy, but loving) My parents have never been the mushy types. I may have my older son do the toast, as he is the oldest grandchild.I plan to have at least one pretty, large live flower arrangement and perhaps some ficus trees with white lights. I designed and will be printing the invitations, which have a picture of their wedding day photo on the front and a current photo on the inside. I would also appreciate any examples of reception programs. Any advice or helpful suggestions would be ever so appreciated. This is a big task for one person to take on. Thanks. Ann
