What a party!!! I have to share with you all about my parents 50th anniversary hosted by myself and 5 other siblings. The day started early 9:00 as we all met at the hotel to decorate. We had a huge wedding picture of mom and dad as you walked into the come and go tea. There was a guest book for people to sign and put in memories. We had an 8 ft long memorbila table set up with all different goodies. A memory book, shiney gold album with their wedding picture in the front cover. A picture of my deceased brother with a candle that was lit the entire afternoon and evening. It was later moved into the ballroom and placed on the head table right next to mom and dad. The come and go tea went from 1-4. People came that my folks hadn't seen for 20 years. Old Korean war vets that my father fought with. We did family pictures following the tea, and than had a little rest. At 7:00 we had the reception. We had a suite booked for mom & dad (due to health issues). They went up and rested for a while, and we asked them not to come down to the supper until someone came for them. The room was awesome!!! It was moonlighting. An absolutely romantic setting. We had lights on the headtable along with beautiful gold and white bows. Next to the head table we had their wedding cake (which we rented, we ate real cake at the tea). It had my great grandparents 50th cake top on it. We had hersey kisses spread around the tables and golden hurrican lanterns. Above them on the head table two gold cherub angels holding tulling which lead to two hearts that read "50 Years" "Bill & Lorraine". We also had the memorbila table moved into the ballroom. There were approx. 65 people at the supper. When my folks walked into the room we all stood and clapped and played Through the Years by Kenny Rodgers. Both of my parents were crying. As they walked up towards the headtable each of us kids had a hug and an I Love You!.
The evening only continued, we had a surprise fiddler there. She played through supper. Mom and dad loved it.
Next we had two toasts one from my brother one from my sister in law. It was very touching, humor and sentiment. The night continued as all the grand children and great grandchildren presented them with 50 roses. Different colors representing different relations. For us kids, there were 7 yellow roses, my deceased brother loved yellow roses. Than the m/c shared some funny thoughts about mom and dad and their family. We had a surprise visit from Elvis Presley, (my brother) who sang to the music of HeartBreak Hotel, changing the lyrics to the story of mom and dad. We had open microphone Time. A telegram from the Mayor of where they were married (thank you ditzy). Than last but not least, Santa Claus. HOHOHOH. He was very funny. Mom and dad responded. My father said he never realized until tonite how many good times he has had over his lifetime, and will continue to have. My mother was overwhelmed. She was beautiful in her gown, and dad in his suit. We gave them each Red Rose flowers to wear, the baby's breath sprayed with gold.
I can say to all of you out there, it is totally worth every moment that you spend on this day. It is a day that will be remembered by all!!! Thank you to this site for all your ideas and help.

Sheila
