I am also planning a 50th wedding anniversary party for my parents and I have the same problem. The only invited guests, other than my siblings, are my aunts and uncles and any cousins that wish to attend. However, that could add anywhere from 4 to 20 to our guest list!! If there were just 4 of them, my siblings and I would pay for their dinners, but with 20, we are getting out of our budget range. Dinners at the restaurant we are using will average $16 and then there are drinks and gratuities. We just cannot afford that. Also, we are giving our parents money for their trip to Hawaii afterwards and we would rather give more money to them then spend it on meals for my aunts, uncles and cousins. I already sent an informal note to all of the relatives indicating we are having dinner so I can't change that now. I did consider changing the time to around 3 pm and then having a "no host" dinner afterwards, but I think that would be tacky. Any suggestions out there?
