If the party is at the home of the parents just make sure the house can hold that many people AND you should invest in an all inclusive caterer (linens, glassware, food, bevs,). But most of all make sure your parents would like to have it at their house 150 people all over the place can make their house a disaster.

The party planner should be close to where the party is because he/she probably would be more equiped to know where to find things, get you better deals, and help your with your guests, etc.
