How about a barbecue? I agree the whole beach idea has potential... but could be more of a hassle than anything. I just threw my parents a 25th anniversary brunch... they were married in December, so I didn't have much of a choice but to have it inside. If you have the option to have it outside... it would be cheaper and easier... plus you could invite more people. Renting tables and chairs wouldn't be that big of a deal... One of the cute little things that I did for my parent's party was buy small silver frames... and place pictures of them in the last 25 + years (dating and all) and placed them on different tables... you could buy inexpensive frames with beach themes... there is so much luau party stuff out there... you could use the more beachy stuff for decorations... good luck.
