Hello Pam,

I am truly sorry to hear about the passing of your sister. I can not even imagine the loss you are feeling. Lean on your friends and family for support.

Suggestions/Direction for 50th Anniversary:
How many guests to invite? -- Family, Friends (old and new)
Depending on the guest list number that will help you determine the PLACE.
PLACES: Home = Intimate, Restaurant, Church Fellowship Hall, Community Center, Club or Party Center
Inside or Outside or Both
Formal or Informal
Catered or You and other Close Relatives make the food.
Cater should supply all service
You Cook = you supply/shop party outlets for service.
Decor:
50th Decorations, Color Scheme of Gold for Golden Anniversary with another color.
Corsage for Mom and Boot for Dad
Pictures/Album or Frames of your parents with Family and Friends
You could even gather photos of your parents lives; Mom growing up, Dad growing up, then when they dated, when they got married, children and other eventful happenings over the 50 years. This could be made into a video scapbook with music of thier lives. You can show this that evening and they will have it to cherish.--Great Keepsake. We have done this for many people over the years and they love it!
Time:
If it is at 12 Noon or 1:00 or 5 or 6 your guests will expect to be fed because it is lunch or dinner time. After lunch and before dinner would be good for light snacks (Veggies, Cheese & Crackers, Fruit, Finger Sandwiches, etc.) Cake and Desserts.
Invitations:
Formal or Informal
Many Invitation Dealers have styles to choose or if you have the time and you can make them on you pc. or you can have someone design them and print them. Suggetion use one of thier wedding photos if applicable.
Order a Cake a your Favorite Bakery. Ask to look at their book of ideas, usually pictures from previous jobs like weddings and anniversaries. You could even have a cake top (50th) or find out if they had a cake top when they got married and use that one.
Your could hire a DJ or Band for entertainment
This should give you some direction or thought as where to begin. If there is any other things I can assist you with let me know.
Good Luck, You know what your parents like best I am sure you will know what to do.
Mindi
