My Mom was much the same, but I know it is because she's never been all that comfortable with anything big and fancy. Plus she doesn't lilek people making a fuss about her. We let her select the people to invite, and we're holding at a place she knows is low key. We'll still make it nice, but we were able to do it without making this a major production for her. Amazingly, once the ball was rolling, she was full of ideas! Of course, you know your mother best, so perhaps this doesn't apply.
