You can throw your own party, but you may want to keep it low-key, especially since you are working on your parents' party. Don't know when your anniversary is, but if the weather will be ok, I'd opt for a backyard BBQ with DJ.

Resist the temptation to mention on the invite that you are registered at Target (Or whatever) IF your guests call and ask you what you'd like for a gift, you can mention it then.
