We are throwing a 40th Anniversary party for my parents who are party folks. They also are the kind of people who sacrifice their own joys and pleasures for others. They always wanted to go to Hawaii, but while all their brothers, sisters and friends went, they put braces on their kids teeth, put kids through college, help cousins remodle homes, etc. Would it be OK, to add something to the invitation that would indicate that in lieu of a gift, a AAA gift certificate to send them to Hawaii would be preferred? My brothers and I are throwing the party (for about 150) with mass, catered dinner and dancing to a live band. Please note, they are from a mostly blue collar, Polish area. Our colors will be those from their wedding (turquiose and white.) Thanks for your opinions.
