I coordinated my parent's 50th anniversary party in October of last year. We had tables with old pictures set up as well as picture boards. My mother has collected lots of pictures through the years and we put just about everyone who attended the party on a picture board (cardboard with pictures taped to it). We hung these on the wall of the church fellowship building. I organized the picture boards by family (Mom's side by sibling families, Dad's side by sibling families, us kids and our families)church friends, old neighborhood friends, new friends.

In addition, we did a memory book. I included not only old pictures of Mom, Dad, family and friends, I also included letters of memories that family and friends had sent at my request. I also included the invitation to the anniversary party, the program of the party, the poem we had scrolled up and used for favors at each place setting, and a place for anniversary cards.

We had a program where each of us siblings, our spouses and the grandchildren got up and said a few words (memories of a specific time or event). This was very touching. We had an old friend of the family's sing and some of my cousins also sang. We had an old friend of the family play piano as well as having some big band era music (which my Dad loves)played on CD.

One of the highlights was a video of still pictures I had put together by a local man (whom I found in the yellow pages). I chose the pictures and music and he put them on a video.

My parents said it was the most special day of their lives. Many of their friends have comented on how much they enjoyed the party.

Just some suggestions from my experience.

Jacqui
