I have a winetasting every Feb. This year was my 3rd. This time, we all went semiformal..each couple(16-18 people) brought 2 of the same bottles of wine(I picked out the ones for tastings), Made up invitations on the computer..appetizers were:Smoked Salmon Triangles with Dilled Cream Cheese,Crabmeat-Spinach Turnovers,Bacon Wrapped Pinepple,Sweet and Spicy Olives,Assorted Cheeses/Crackers.Entrees: Chicken-Shrimp Wild Rice with Mushrooms,Green Beans w/Orange Butter,Salad of WinterGreens, Rolls. Desserts: assorted(store bakery). We had abt 4 dry white wines, 4 dry reds. We start at 5 with horsd'oeuvres/social time..6:30 for the wine tasting, then followed by dinner. We open one of each wine for the tasting. The other bottles are opened AFTER the tasting is done. I also made up wine tasting sheets with a the wine name, price, what to serve it with, and an area for their comments. We really have a GREAT TIME!! Last year, we tasted wines from around the world, the year before that were Calif and NY wines. This year was mixed from France-Oregon-Calif-Washington. I would like to do a summer tasting on the deck some time! Of course, this year (semi foraml)the candles were put out, white table cloth(a nice PAPER one), VANIETY FAIR PAPER napkins,NICE white plastic plates etc!!
