Another idea that my kids and their friends loved and asked for at the following year was something that for lack of a better name I will call Dectecive Search. I used this for 7 &8 year
olds. This takes alot of preparation on your part but is well worth it.

I use this for all the goodie bag treats.

I have tried it several different ways and found that the following works out best. I planned for each child to get to read two clues. The birthday child is given the first clue. Each envelope thereafter will have a different child's name on it. That child gets to read the clue to the others.

Each clue will need the kids to the next clue.

Ideas for clues:

Write backwards so that when the clue is shown in the mirror it can be read.

One clue I left was that one of their parents had the next clue. All parents knew about this ahead of time and were prepared to answer the phone. One was given the next child to ask for and that child was given the next clue.

Something you would look in if you didn't know how to spell something. They would have to come up with the idea of a dictionary and then find it to locate the next clue which would be hidden there.

A clue could be hidden in a made up word search.

You can use your keyboard to write a clue that has different shapes mean different letters. Like use the "flag" or "hand" shape to signify the letter "a" or "r." I used several of these. They loved figuring these out.

I had them go upstairs and downstairs, inside and outside.

The last clue will lead to a bag of goodies. They will all come together and each child will get item of the same thing. Good place to hide final clue is like in a dryer or washing machine.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any help with the clues and how the party turns out.
