Hi, For my daughters first birthday I had the same situation. Here is what I did to keep everyone busy. I had play stations set up before the party and encouraged each guest when they arrived to choose whatever station they wanted to try out and have fun. For example, I had a bubble station (for the younger kids), a face painting station (for the older kids), an Art Stop complete with crayons, paper, pencils, markers, popcicle sticks, glue, buttons and anything else I could get a hold of, the golf stop with plastic balls, clubs and golf bag, a ball, and a pinata. The pinata I saved until the gifts were opened and then made sure I extra bags of candy that I would throw around the smaller kids when it broke open so everyone got plenty of candy. It was a fish theme, and I had fish flying from the rafters, sponge painted fish paper table cloths, a fish pinata, a fish cake etc. You get the idea. I have to say that the party was a huge success and the older kids looked like they were having as much fun and my little one. Oh, one other thing, when gifts were being opened, I asked the child who gave the gift to come and help my daughter to open it. Since my daughter was only one, she didn't mind, I was grateful for the help and none of the younger kids were crying because they didn't get to open gifts! Hope this helps and good luck! Richelle
