I always head for the dollar, surplus and party stores for inexpensive (try to stay away from "cheap") stuff. Bubbles, crayons, "super balls", candies (make themed cookies to take home), pencils,stickers, erasers.... Last year for my son's Thomas the TE party, we got Thomas plastic cups at teh party store (ALL kinds of themes)(50 cents), put in a bottle of bubbles (33 cents) added a sheet of train stickers (25 cents in a 4pack for $1) and some train-shaped sugar cookies.... Kids seemed to think it was just grand!
