Kick-Off
- Send out news release announcing event and kick-off information;
- Meet with Invitation Committee to make sure appropriate media are invited to the
kick-off;
- Call the media to personally invite them and encourage attendance;
- Send out news release immediately following the kick-off event listing who attended,
what happened, etc.
Benefit
- Send out news release announcing date, theme, place and honorees, accompanied by an
invitation to the event;
- Send out public service announcements (PSAs) regarding same;
- Follow up news releases and PSAs with hopes for story or announcement;
- Set up TV/radio appearances for honorees;
- Follow up with selected media by phone to see if they plan to attend
the event;
- Forward complimentary tickets to those media representatives who confirm;
- Provide Dinner Planning Committee a list so that they media representatives when doing
the seating chart.
