Bachelor/Bachelorette Party FAQ

Q. Who is invited?

A. Well, you should invite the wedding party (whether just the boys, just the girls or both); the bride or groom’s close friends and family.

Q. Who pays?

A. It is common for guests to pay their own way at bachelor/bachelorette parties, so don’t feel bad about not footing the entire bill. On the other hand, you may want to provide some fun "extras" like hats and t-shirts that say, "BOB’S BACHELOR PARTY," glow jewelry to pass out at one of the nightclubs (always fun), and single use cameras for everyone to have to record the best moments of the trip.

Q. Can this be done economically?

A. It isn’t as hard as you think. There are companies that will plan everything for you and most likely will be able to work within your budget.

Q. What should be done for an invitation?

A. A caricature of the honoree that depicts interests, hobbies and idiosyncrasies and includes party information right on the caricature: time, date, place, phone number for RSVP is a great idea (see samples).

Q. Once we’re there, what should definitely be included?

A. For sure, there should be one night or special event where you "roast" the bride or groom. Can’t let them get off that easy! You may also want to provide a progressive party where you go from club to club, casino to casino—and at each stop the bachelor or bachelorette has to don yet another funky piece of wedding wear. If you do it right, by the end of the evening, they will be so embarrassed—they won’t chance getting a divorce for fear they may have to do this again!

Have fun…and check out our Bachelor and Bachelorette Party Books for other great ideas!

We have three great books on the subject:

  • Great Bachelor Parties—Organizing the Best Night of His Life by Herbert I. Kavet

This is a humorous but information-filled guide! And they just don’t deal with chicks, booze and male bonding! They deal with important things like the responsibilities of the best man, ideas (besides the obvious) and step-by-step rules to follow for a night to remember (with you choosing how much guilt is involved).

  • The Bachelorette Party—Creating an Event She’ll Remember Forever by Herbert I. Kavet

Illustrated and fun, this book tells you how to throw a fabulous bachelorette party or spinster dinner. It "shows you exactly what you should do to have a party that grows into a celebration of friendship and bonding and irreverent behavior that the bride-to-be will remember forever." Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t just tell you how—it tells you when, where and gives you the rules in a humorous yet edifying way! Lots of great ideas.

  • How to Host A Hilariously Fun Bachelorette Party by Gwen Liveris and Nancy Johnson

This funny and useful book is a great all-in-one guide for how to plan a bachelorette party. It includes detailed explanations for what food to eat, how to decorate, what games to play, and what favors to give out. It is a great read and the suggestions guarantee a memorable evening that the groom should never hear about. If you need a complete guideline for how to host an excellent bachelorette party buy this book.

  • Bride's Guide to Sex and Marriage by Herbert I. Kavet

According to the author, "This book is the real deal. It will tell you everything about husbands and bathrooms and sharing blankets...and all those things you experimented with when you were [dating] living together but were still on your best behavior." Learn how to handle your husband's annoying habits, and how to socialize with his friends and his family...not to mention how to make him more romantic.

And here’s another idea...go to Vegas! Where else? Whether man or woman, who doesn’t love VEGAS?? And for one last fling, it’s the place to be. There’s something for everyone. Entertainment, gambling, hotels to see, places to go, casinos to visit...you’ll never run out of things to do. There are even companies out there that will plan the whole weekend—from travel arrangements to accommodations and more! It’s affordable and unforgettable.
