Halloween Wedding Ideas

Halloween themed weddings are becoming more and more popular as the popularity of Halloween continues to soar.  It's a great option for a couple looking for an unusual twist on a wedding or a Halloween crazy couple. You can go simple with pumpkins and black and orange as your theme or go all out and have a costume party for your Halloween wedding.
halloween wedding location ideas
Your first decision for wedding planning, of course, is your location.  Now, of course, you can have a Halloween theme wedding at any banquet hall and theme the location for your wedding.  For me, however, my top choice would be in an old mansion.  Many historical societies allow people to rent our mansions for a private event, so this is a great option.
How about a pumpkin patch?  You can rent a tent, tables and chairs and set it all up in a field next to a pumpkin patch.  (I would make sure no pumpkins are on the ground in the tent).  Add special lighting and this is a one of a kind event location.
halloween wedding Invitations
We have created a totally unique Halloween wedding line that includes invitations, reply cards, seating cards, table numbers, thank you notes, and favors.  It's a great option for a Halloween wedding.Of course you can choose a more formal wedding invitation and add some fun Halloween wording.
Mail your invitations 6-8 weeks before your wedding and be sure to mention the attire on the invitation.  Is it "Halloween chic" or "Costumes a Must"?  Your guests will appreciate knowing what to wear.

Halloween wedding Decorations and Party Supplies

Your decor begins with your ceremony.  If you want to go all out, use a bloody footprints runner instead of a traditional aisle runner.  Want to really go all out?  How about using swags of bloody weapon garland along the aisles? We suggest (blood) red roses for the bride and her bridesmaids.  You can wrap them with black ribbon and even add a glittery spider pin in the bouquets for a touch of fun.

At your reception, you'll want to lower the lighting for a romantically spooking setting. Place blood red roses in vases throughout the room.  And, of course, we would decorate everything, from bars and buffets to hallways and the entrance, with jack 'o lanterns.  We think Orange and black lanterns are incredible hanging from the ceiling and love spider garland for decorating fireplaces or buffets. Any traditional Halloween decorations are perfect additions to your reception area.  Hang bats, cobwebs and skeletons around the room.
You'll want to have seating cards as well.  Choose personalized Halloween wedding seating cards as one option.  Or using a sharpie marker, write your guest's table information on a tiny pumpkin.
Set the mood with soft spooky classical music playing in the background. Try a few of these selections, and everyone will be toe tapping in terror!
  • Brahms - Piano Quintet in g minor, Op. 25
  • Bach - Toccata and Fugue in d minor, BWV 565
  • Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King
  • Mendelssohn - First Walpurgis Night
  • Orff - Carmina Burana, O Fortuna
  • Gluck - Dance of the Furies
  • Mussorgsky - A Night on Bald Mountain
  • Mozart - Requiem "Dies Irae"

During your cocktail hour, offer a blood red signature cocktail drink in a light up martini glass or red wine in a light up wine goblet.  They are great fun.

We have a nice selection of Halloween recipes for appetizers, sweet desserts and cocktails that are perfect for any Halloween wedding.
Halloween wedding Tabletop

Black candelabras with tall candles and red roses are a perfect elegant centerpiece for your Halloween wedding.  Pumpkins and fall leaves are also a perfect fit for Halloween.  Add some fun extra touches to your table:

  • Sparkle skeleton body parts are perfect for confetti.
  • For a more casual Halloween wedding, scatter candy on the tables.
  • A spider web tablecover is perfect for any 8' tables.
  • votive candles (black) are a must.
Now, there if there is an event that begs for a candy buffet at dessert, it is absolutely a Halloween wedding.  Candy buffets are HOT right now, but we're not suggesting a traditional buffet with nonpareils and almonds.  Put out jars (and jars) of mini Halloween candy, candy corns, lollipops, etc.  Any traditional Halloween candy is perfect.  Set out personalized favor bags (that match your invitations) or small pumpkin baskets for your guests to fill with candy.
You'll also want a traditional wedding cake for your wedding, but any bakery can spice it up and create a Halloween wedding cake
